Entitled Roommate

It’s difficult to find good roommates.

Finding good roommates can be difficult because compatibility in living habits, cleanliness, and communication styles are critical for a harmonious living environment. Many people struggle to find roommates who share their values and expectations, which can lead to conflicts and disagreements in a shared living environment. Even if you do find roommates who share your interests, you never know how they will act once you get to know them better.

To avoid misunderstandings and conflicts, clear boundaries and open communication should be established from the beginning. Taking the time to get to know potential roommates before moving in can also contribute to a more positive living experience. After all, it’s easy to end up with entitled flatmates. That is exactly what happened to one person, as evidenced by these text messages.

When the OP says entitled, she truly does mean it, which you’ll see in a moment.

It all started when the roommate demanded that OP pay extra money because she used the microwave more than anyone else.

OP wasn’t going to let this go and was clear that she wasn’t going to pay extra.

This was the last straw for OP, and she decided to put the roommate in her place, which included mentioning the neglected cat.

It didn’t stop there, as OP was on a roll now and told her everything she had ever done wrong.

The roommate wasn’t able to retort with anything and thus decided to move out after listening to all of the truth.

OP didn’t leave it there either and messaged her a list of things that she needed to do from now on before she left.

The roommate had enough of all the insults, but OP had already said all that she needed to say.

Basically, this roommate is a spoiled adult who runs to her parents every time she needs anything.

OP is not against her roommate partying, but she is not okay with her being a slob and leaving trash everywhere she goes.

Not only that, but by the sounds of it, her bedroom is a total pigsty and sounds disgusting.

There is entitlement, and there is this. This person is not only entitled, but she is also neglectful of her pet and an overall slob. There is nothing wrong with partying when you are young, but that does not mean you can ignore your responsibilities. If you can’t care for yourself, it’s best not to get a pet in the first place. It’s actually quite satisfying to see OP finally be honest with her flatmate and tell her how it is. It is probably a good thing she is moving out because OP will now be able to find a much better flatmate.

People in the comments had great advice to give as well.

This roommate clearly needs to grow up.

The cat doesn’t deserve any of this.

People only deserve treats after they actually do something.

They think their parents will always be there for them.

She had no way to answer the OP back.

It would have been funny to get her even angrier.

The roommate should never have gotten a cat.

I can’t even excuse her behaviour since she is a full-grown adult.
