Ghost Employee

We all want an easy job.

Many people dream of landing a simple job that allows them to breeze through their workday with little effort. However, the concept of an easy job is subjective; what one person finds simple and stress-free, another may find tedious and unfulfilling. This does not imply that the individual is lazy or anything like that. After all, life isn’t all about work, despite what some may believe.

However, no matter how ‘easy’ your job is, it is difficult to find a job where you can literally do nothing and still be paid. After all, companies don’t typically pay you to sit there. However, that is exactly the situation that OP found himself in when he began his current job. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, but he was somehow left with nothing to do, no matter how many higher-ups he consulted. This may sound like a fantastical scenario, but I assure you that it is real.

This guy found the perfect job that many wished for.

OP was hired to replace someone else but his position became irrelevant before he came in.

This means that he now has nothing to do, even when he is at the office for three days out of the week.

He makes a reasonable amount of money but nobody has given him any work in months.

OP is also smart enough to leave a paper trail behind and report to his manager every week.

OP doesn’t want to leave too many details about his work since someone from his place of employment could be on Reddit.

He is also not too keen on getting a second job, which is fair enough.

He is also allowed time off pretty easily, which is just icing on the cake.

OP also leaves his work earlier a lot of the time since he doesn’t have to swipe out.

I honestly hope his company never fires him. While I can’t find a job like his, all I can do is hope he continues to work here without incident. As long as he leaves a paper trail, the company will not pursue him, even if he is eventually fired or quits. I don’t see why he would quit; he couldn’t have found a better ‘job’ if he tried. I wonder if his superiors are aware that he has no work to do or if they are blissfully unaware.

People in the comments were generally happy for him.

Most everyone advised him to have all the relevant documents ready.

Keeping records is the safest choice in this instance.

Where can I find a job like this?

That is the question that I also want to know.

The guy in Italy sure was lucky.

He at least got a free laptop out of the ordeal.

Apparently, this kind of thing happens a lot.

I cannot believe that they didn’t have to do any work for fourteen years!

Improving yourself in some way is always a great way to spend your time.
