Life should not revolve around work.

In today’s fast-paced society, the pressure to always work and produce can be overwhelming. People have gradually come to believe that if you do not work, you are automatically lazy, which should not be the case. It’s critical to remember that life is about more than our jobs and careers. Finding a healthy balance between work and personal life is critical to our overall well-being and happiness. Relaxing, engaging in hobbies, and spending quality time with loved ones can all help to reduce stress and improve mental health.

It is critical to prioritise self-care and set boundaries in order to avoid burnout and live a fulfilling life outside of work. Not only that, but it is critical to listen to your body’s and mind’s needs in order to maintain long-term health and happiness. There will also be times when you have to deal with unforeseen circumstances, and higher-ups must be more sympathetic to their employees. However, this is not always the case, and the boss would rather fire you than be three for you when you are dealing with a stressful situation. That is exactly what occurred in this instance as well.

Crystal was clearly dealing with a lot as her son was on life support in the hospital, but her boss’s behaviour was less than ideal.

Crystal was very clear that she was having an emergency, but rather than being understanding, the boss said that if she didn’t come in, she would be fired.

The manager was trying to put everything on Crystal, but that wasn’t the case, and Crystal was clear that she wasn’t quitting either.

The manager even had the audacity to say that she would not handle any more drama and that she was done being accommodating.

As you can guess, this left Crystal quite exasperated, as it wasn’t as if she was in a situation to come to work.

The manager apparently thought Crystal had nothing else to do and that she should come to work while her child was on life support.

This is the last message that the manager leaves us with, and it shows that she doesn’t have an ounce of empathy in her.

I understand that most employers are concerned with the bottom line, but this goes far beyond that. I know that some people continue to work even when faced with such situations, but this is usually because they have no other option. It is truly mind-boggling that this person thought she was accomplishing something by claiming that work was more important and that OP was not permitted to take time off for her son, who is on life support in the hospital. As someone who has been in a similar situation before, I would have quit immediately if my bosses treated me this way.

As someone who feels guilty every time I take off, I understand the situation.

The story did have a sort of happy ending as the manager got fired.

Rather than happy, I would say the manager got her comeuppance.

Who would leave a family member to go to work?

Dawn definitely deserved to be sued.

Crystal was clearly being dramatic when she said her son’s life was in danger.

I would say that this is the appropriate response.

Thankfully, I wasn’t the only one who noticed that.

Our lives don’t revolve around work.

We all have other things we need to do.

Dealing with things like this can be quite stressful, and I say this from experience.

The manager was being way too high and mighty.
