Imagine you won the lottery and could plan your dream vacation. Now, picture your spouse taking charge and planning the entire trip as if they had won. You’d feel pretty disappointed, right? Any husband would.
Reddit user u/freerideaita won a trip to Florida with four tickets. Excited, he shared the good news with his wife, envisioning a romantic getaway for them or perhaps with a couple of friends. However, his wife had a completely different plan in mind, which involved OP’s stepdaughter and MIL.
2. OP shared that he had won many tickets to sporting events or concerts but never something grand like a vacation or a free car.
3. Until this time, he finally won a free 5-night trip for 4 people to Florida. He was extremely excited and told his wife about it.
4. While OP had plans to go with his wife on a romantic trip to Florida, his wife wanted to take her daughter (OP’s stepdaughter) along and make it a Disney-oriented vacation.
5. OP wanted to make it an adults-only trip by inviting another couple, but his input wasn’t even heard.
6. She also wanted to onboard her mother (OP’s MIL), who would look after the daughter whenever the couple would want to spend some time alone.
7. The ideas conflicted heavily, so the couple started arguing. While they decided to take a break and not to tell anyone, the wife still told her daughter about OP winning a free trip to Florida.
8. The stepdaughter got excited about the trip as well and started making plans of her own.
This is not nice. OP won that trip, and his say is being given no consideration. OP was going to take his wife all along, that was never an issue. But the fact that she felt entitled to design the whole trip is something really unfair and rude.
OP needs to either abandon the trip and let MIL, his wife, and stepdaughter enjoy the trip on their own, and of course, pay for all the expenses themselves. Or he could invite his buddies and have a fun-filled trip with them. Ignore the family entirely!
