Wife Invites Her Mother To A Vacation With Her Husband After He Wins A Lottery, Drama Ensues

Imagine you won the lottery and could plan your dream vacation. Now, picture your spouse taking charge and planning the entire trip as if they had won. You’d feel pretty disappointed, right? Any husband would.

Reddit user u/freerideaita won a trip to Florida with four tickets. Excited, he shared the good news with his wife, envisioning a romantic getaway for them or perhaps with a couple of friends. However, his wife had a completely different plan in mind, which involved OP’s stepdaughter and MIL.

1. Let’s find out!

2. OP shared that he had won many tickets to sporting events or concerts but never something grand like a vacation or a free car.

3. Until this time, he finally won a free 5-night trip for 4 people to Florida. He was extremely excited and told his wife about it.

4. While OP had plans to go with his wife on a romantic trip to Florida, his wife wanted to take her daughter (OP’s stepdaughter) along and make it a Disney-oriented vacation.

5. OP wanted to make it an adults-only trip by inviting another couple, but his input wasn’t even heard.

6. She also wanted to onboard her mother (OP’s MIL), who would look after the daughter whenever the couple would want to spend some time alone.

7. The ideas conflicted heavily, so the couple started arguing. While they decided to take a break and not to tell anyone, the wife still told her daughter about OP winning a free trip to Florida.

8. The stepdaughter got excited about the trip as well and started making plans of her own.

This is not nice. OP won that trip, and his say is being given no consideration. OP was going to take his wife all along, that was never an issue. But the fact that she felt entitled to design the whole trip is something really unfair and rude.

OP needs to either abandon the trip and let MIL, his wife, and stepdaughter enjoy the trip on their own, and of course, pay for all the expenses themselves. Or he could invite his buddies and have a fun-filled trip with them. Ignore the family entirely!

9. OP said it was unfair of her wife to tell his stepdaughter about the trip when they agreed to wait until a final decision was made.

10. The wife said OP was being selfish for not prioritizing his close family for the trip.

11. OP told his wife he would not go on the trip if she wanted to bring her daughter and mother along.

12. OP also added that if she did want to take that route, he would not be paying for anything.

13. NTA, for sure, but not ESH. OP was open to discussing it, but his wife didn’t wait and told her daughter about the trip.

14. Take the cash option. That would be the best outcome.

16. No room for switchers in my life, even if she is the wife.

17. She didn’t want to leave OP with any options, but he still has one; to abandon the trip entirely.

18. If the finances are separate, then OP should definitely invite his buddies and drop the idea of a family trip entirely.

19. The wife chose not to come on OP’s terms. Fine, she shouldn’t come at all.

20. It would have been such a nice trip for the couple. Too bad, it probably won’t happen now.
