Back in 2019, a study was conducted by Lauren Powell, who happens to be a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, decided to see whether getting a dog would improve the activity level of the owners. However, the researchers decided to recruit 71 people from Sydney, Australia, and segregated them by inclination; Those people were divided into three different groups;
People who were planning to get a dog within a month, people who wanted to get a pupper but agreed to wait until the study was complete and lastly, people who had absolutely no interest in having a dog as a pet. However, what they found was, “the group of people who got a dog felt happier and their loneliness was decreased by 40% and stayed at that lower level at eight months,” said Dr. Powell. Isn’t that incredible!?
