There is a labour shortage.
In today’s competitive job market, businesses struggle to find and retain skilled workers to fill open positions. With a labour shortage looming, businesses are under pressure to attract and hire new employees to keep operations running smoothly. This growing trend is transforming how businesses approach recruitment and employee retention strategies. Employers are now offering higher wages, better benefits, and more flexible work arrangements to entice potential employees.
But this is what they tell you. I’m not saying none of this is true, because employers are certainly better in many ways than they were before, but only a few companies adhere to all of these principles and care about their employees. They may claim that today’s youth are lazy and that no one wants to work, but this could not be further from the truth. The difference is that many people today value themselves and do not believe that work is all that life has to offer. Work-life balance is essential for overall health and happiness.
While there may be a labour shortage, something does not add up.

There is apparently a labour shortage happening, according to a lot of companies.

This is especially true for the fast food industry and places that require employees for customer service.

Joey had an ingenious idea to do a little experiment when it came to the labour shortage.

Joey decided to apply for two jobs every single day for a full month.

He received 16 responses in the mail, spoke with 4 people, and only got one interview.

The one interview that he did get made him realise the company was lying about the wages.

Companies are apparently desperate for hard-working employees, but then they aren’t hiring people.

In the end, they just want things to go back to how they used to be.

This is Joey, and he sparked a debate on the labour shortage issue online.

Joey also promised us a pie chart for those of us who are visual learners.

This is the aforementioned pie chart, and everything is pretty clear.

This little experiment clearly demonstrates that things are not as they appear. There is apparently a labour shortage, but no one wanted to hire this guy. I could understand if he had no qualifications or anything of the sort, but that is not the case. Even during the one interview he did get, the company lied about the wage they were willing to offer. Many companies want to return to the way things used to be and refuse to pay a livable wage. It’s frustrating for job seekers who are simply looking for a fair wage for their efforts.
A lot of people weren’t even surprised by this revelation.

People already know this, but it isn’t kicking up a bigger fuss.

It is hard to find a job these days.

When I say it is hard to find a job, I mean a job with an actual, livable wage.

There are so many now-hiring signs out in the wild.

The employee turnover rate can also tell you everything.

The minimum wage doesn’t really make sense in this day and age.

This commenter also had another reason why Joey didn’t get a lot of responses.

It might make no sense, but it is the reality.
