Mom Asks If She’s Wrong For Giving Her Son A Burger At BBQ When Other Adults Refused To Let Him Have One

Barbecue parties are fun and popular for their delicious food. However, sometimes one person can ruin the fun, turning the event sour.

OP’s husband met a guy last year and they became close. Yesterday, he invited OP’s family to a BBQ. OP brought enough food for 12 burgers, 12 hot dogs, and extras like sodas and chips. There were about 8 adults and 12 kids, plus OP’s family and their 3 kids (13, 9, and 8 months). OP’s oldest doesn’t like hot dogs, so when he was given hot dogs at the grill, he asked for a burger instead. The guy at the grill said, “Nope, sorry kid, the burgers are for the adults.” OP explained that their son doesn’t like hot dogs, but the guy shrugged. OP then asked for a burger and switched plates with their son. This caused some questions from other kids, but no one said anything to OP directly. Today, the guy texted OP’s husband saying OP isn’t invited next time because they caused an uproar over a hot dog, saying burgers are only for adults. OP’s husband hasn’t responded, and OP is upset he’s not defending them. Was OP wrong here?
