Employee Trouble

Everyone makes mistakes.

Mistakes are an unavoidable part of the human experience, shaping our progress and development. Every person faces the consequences of their actions, from minor mistakes to major ones. Accepting our flaws allows us to learn, grow, and eventually become better versions of ourselves. Sure, some mistakes are more serious than others, but nobody is perfect. And as long as your mistakes do not harm anyone and you make amends, everything should be fine.

However, a mistake can sometimes lead to more serious problems, particularly in the workplace. To maintain trust and credibility in the workplace, we must accept responsibility for our mistakes and work to correct them. Seeking advice and learning from mistakes can help you avoid future problems and advance your career. However, should not the person who played a significant role in the error also accept responsibility? That is the question that must be answered today.

Getting a mismarked item always feels like food for many people.

OP had found a very nice leather jacket, which was quite affordable considering the quality, so they hurriedly bought it.

OP was halfway across the street when he was hailed down by an employee who told them that the jacket was actually $200 more.

OP was not willing to part with the jacket, so they just apologised and walked to their car.

The OP is questioning whether they did the right thing when they saw the employee getting reamed by their apparent boss.

I honestly don’t know who to side with in this particular situation. While I sympathise with the employee, the original author of this story committed no legal violations. Sure, it was an a**hole move, but there aren’t many people who are willing to pay that much more for something they like. Was it appropriate for the OP to do this? Not really. And the employee did get into trouble. At this point, I can only hope that the employee in question does not lose their position.

Was it a morally correct decision? No.

If it was Target, I would have been fine with it.

The employee did nothing wrong in this situation.

The OP did not do anything wrong legally.

There were quite a few people who were on the side of OP as well.

After all, it wasn’t OP’s job.

It would have been nice to go back.

Returning it for the full price would be even worse.

Doesn’t everyone make mistakes?

To be fair, the subreddit is called Am I the A**hole? Not if I am legally in the wrong.

It really is as simple as that.

Going in when she saw the employee getting in trouble would have been great.

I am sure even OP knows this.

I am sure she wasn’t the one who marked it incorrectly.

It is clear that people have varying opinions on this subject.

What are your thoughts on what the OP did? Do you think they were right to walk away because they had already bought the jacket? Or do you believe they should have returned it or paid the full price when they were informed of the actual price? How would you have handled this situation? Leave a comment below to let us know.
