Employee Gets Email To Interview For A Job In Four Hours Which They Applied An Year Ago

3 min 8 0

Nowadays, it’s quite common to hear back from a job you applied to a while back, asking if you’re still interested in the first-round interview. Life throws curveballs, and many reasons could cause delays in the hiring process for the position you applied for.

Sometimes, other urgent matters take priority for the management team, or there’s less budget available than expected. Perhaps they initially had another candidate in mind, or an internal promotion fell through. However, it’s typical for hiring managers to keep applications for future rounds of hiring.

Still, it can feel odd to suddenly get an email a whole year later, inviting you for an interview with no further explanation. It gets even stranger when the interview is scheduled for the same day, just four hours after receiving the email. That is exactly what happened with Reddit user u/yeah-i-smoked-first.

1. You read that right, ladies and gentlemen!

2. One day, totally having forgotten about the initiation of the correspondence in question, OP received an interview call from a certain company.

3. OP had once applied for the position for front desk agent and he received a response email in that regard.

4. He was requested to appear for the job interview in the next four hours. It’s just that…he received this email response one year after applying for the said position.

The internet loved this hilarious email response and had a lot to say about it:

5. They probably thought “We have already missed it by a year, why not go over the board with the response”.

6. This was the most hilarious part of the response, not the 1 year delay.

8. I think they kind of know no one would ever show up after such a terrible interview call.

Such an awkard instance mostly occurs when either the company fails to find a suitable candidate in the latest set of intervies or if they fail to negotiate a deal with a suitable candidate. Instead of starting another hiring campaign, then, which would cost a lot money, such a strategy is put into action.

Either way, it is still hilarious to receive a response on a job application someone sent in a year ago. If OP is currently hired, he should attend the interview for jokes. If not, he should then attend it with all seriousness.

16. I would go in and say, “Excuse me? Can I update my CV real quick?”

I would take my pen out and write a two-pager on all the milestones I had achieved in the last year.
