Employee Gets Fired For Constantly Threatening That She Would Quit, Boss Asks If They’re Wrong For It

Courtesy is contagious! Never try to exploit the good traits of a person because you may not like their bad side. A good boss is not easy to get in today’s world, so you must know how to be grateful for such blessings. If you kick such a blessing in the face, you could potentially be kicking your entire career.

A representation of what I just mentioned took place in the Reddit story we have for you guys today. Reddit user Master-Purple shared that she had a worker who would take leaves so frequently to deal with her personal matters. However, OP never refused and would always approve the arrangement. Whenever, though, OP would try to confront this worker for taking too many leaves, she would either start crying or threaten to quit the job. When OP finally said no to a leave application this worker applied for one time, she started crying again and threatened to look for new work. Frustrated, OP fired her butt there and then.

1. She must either have a very unique skill in her arsenal to do this. Let’s find out!

2. OP shared that just two months after this one employee joined, she took a month’s leave to plan her wedding and took multiple days off after that as well.

3. Every time OP tried to address the matter, she would either start crying or threaten to quit.

4. OP gave her a 7-month paid maternity leave as well. After returning, she would continue to take days off, saying she had to deal with issues regarding her child and husband.

5. One time, when OP finally said no to a leave request, she threw a major tantrum at her, threatening once again to quit the job.

6. OP made the worker’s wish her command and fired the woman.

Here’s what the AITA community had to say about this:

7. OP is running a business, not a counseling center.

10. She was a walking-talking mental stressor for OP. Good thing she got rid of her. Legal issues can be worried about later.

NTA. I am so surprised she ended up working there for over 3 years. I would actually declare OP an AH for not firing her earlier. Also, I would have never left OP’s firm, even if it meant compensating for the salary. She gave OP leaves like they were nothing. I would be so happy working for a woman who would give me a 7-month paid leave without question.

That worker made a big mistake.

13. The only way you can call OP an AH is for this reason.

17. Employees are the powerhouses of the companies they work for. This woman just ruined the reputation of all employees who work so hard to earn their salaries.

18. OP was too kind. Not every employer would be.
