Some businesses do not keep accurate information about their employees.
In today’s fast-paced business world, companies must keep accurate and up-to-date information about their employees. This includes contact information, job titles, and qualifications to ensure smooth operations and effective communication within the organisation. Failure to do so can lead to misunderstandings, inefficiencies, and potential legal issues. However, some businesses fail to do so, resulting in potential problems when an employee leaves the company but remains in the system.
This is actually more common than you realise. I’ve heard hundreds of stories about ex-employees being called back to work a shift or something similar after leaving the company years ago. It would be funny if it wasn’t so ridiculous. Proper documentation and updating of employee information are critical to avoiding such embarrassing and potentially costly situations. Regular audits and reviews of employee records can help prevent these issues from arising.
However, one company did not do this, and the result can be seen by scrolling down.

Everybody has to deal with enough random calls as they are.

OP used to work at a treatment facility where people with mental health issues resided, but this was years ago.

This interaction happened a few years ago, but seven years have passed since OP left the job.

The call started out normal enough, with the caller asking if they were speaking to the right person.

OP was quick to answer and tell the caller that he doesn’t work there anymore and hasn’t since seven years ago.

Rather than understanding what the OP was saying, the caller ignored the response and continued with his script.

Before the caller could repeat the same thing again, OP reiterated that he doesn’t work at the company anymore and thus does not want his information in their database anymore.

You would think the conversation would end here, but the caller insisted that the OP was the one being unhelpful in this case.

This is when the caller finally broke and admitted that he was just following orders.

OP may not have come off as the kindest person on the planet, but he got his point across.

OP also explained why he speaks in such a manner and why it is sometimes necessary.

I’m aware that the story appears to be made up based on how the OP spoke to the caller. However, OP explained that his previous experience working in a call centre had taught him to speak in a non-emotional tone. And, while I feel bad for the guy on the other end because he is simply doing his job, he should have just apologised and moved on. However, he was most likely following a script, so he may not have been expected to accept a no. As someone who has dealt with a similar situation, it can be extremely frustrating when they continue to ignore you.
He really should have been a better listener.

Apparently, this kind of thing happens a lot.

Well, he should have realised why that was the case.

I am pretty sure it was a script or he was just dumb.

I am sure a meme like that already exists out there.

I did do a brief stint in customer service, and it was awful.

What is the company even up to?

Sometimes you need to spell it out for them to understand completely.

I am not sure if it is illegal, but it should be.
