Invasion of privacy is a serious offence.
In today’s modern world, technology has made it easier than ever for employers to track their employees’ every move. However, some workplaces go overboard with surveillance, disregarding their employees’ right to privacy. This invasion of privacy can lead to a toxic work environment and a breakdown in trust between employers and employees.
When I say invasion of privacy, I don’t just mean constant video surveillance in break rooms and bathrooms, but also intrusive monitoring of emails and computer usage. The latter may not sound as serious as the former, but it is still important to discuss because it is more common. I am sure you are familiar with the laptops that many employees receive for work. Well, they usually have a lot of tracking software so that the higher-ups can always keep track of you. This may not sound so bad, but it can lead to managers constantly looking over your shoulder.

Finding monitoring software on your work laptop is not as unusual as it may seem.
This happened when OP was on a team call.

The main issue is that these monitoring programmes aren’t particularly accurate. They usually monitor when you type or do something on your computer. However, when you are in a team meeting, you are unlikely to be typing or doing anything else, so the software will simply log it as idle time. Many managers appear to misunderstand this simple caveat and act as if it is the end of the world if an employee is ‘idle’ for 10 minutes or so. Unfortunately, based on the comments, this is more common than we may realise.
I am sure the manager knows but doesn’t want to say anything.

I would not trust my computer after this.
This is why I used to bring my own laptop to work.
These monitoring programs aren’t very accurate unless they use your camera and microphone as well.
Calling it spyware might be the thing to do.

I was not aware that there was a mouse wiggler.
Unless someone is being super lazy, this is just dumb.
