Redditor Gets Berated By Stranger For Choosing Their Late Mother-In-Law’s Cat Over Daughter’s Nanny

Pets play a vital role in many people’s lives, with over half the world’s population owning one. These animals often become beloved family members, and losing a pet can be as heartbreaking as losing a loved one.

However, not everyone can have every type of pet. Some people have allergies that make being around certain animals uncomfortable or even dangerous.

One Reddit user shared his story about adopting his late mother-in-law’s cat. Unfortunately, his daughter’s nanny was allergic to cats and had to leave if they kept the cat. The family chose to keep the cat, and the nanny left. However, things did not end there. Four months later, OPs wife received a message accusing the family of making the nanny homeless and upsetting their daughter.

1. Let’s find out!

2. After taking in his deceased MIL’s cat, OP and family found out that their live-in nanny was allergic to cats.

3. Owed to emotionao attachment, the couple and their daughter prioritized the MIL’s cat over the nanny and decided to let her go.

4. 4 months later OP’s wife received an aggressive message from an unknown number telling her that they all made a bad decision.

5. I think we all know it is the nanny at the back of this message.

8. Who knows, keeping her could’ve resulted in a much worse issue…over an entirely unrelated topic.

9. While it stinks she has to find a new job, no one can put OP at fault here.

10. Perfectly put together!

A very easy NTA for me, to be honest. The cat is family and the nanny isn’t. Who would you pick in such a situation? It is really not that hard of a decision to bother the AITA community.

Imagine how bad OP’s wife would have felt had they given MIL’s cat to someone else for a nanny, who by the way are so high in supply these days that OP could easily hire a new one in no time.

11. It was the nanny who made that call. There was no doubt about it.

12. Just hire a new nanny and be done with it.

13. It is simple math.

14. Everyone in your family is happy with the current scenario. This shows you did the right thing.

16. The fact that she made that creepy phone call not so long after leaving hints to the fact that she was employed again and didn’t have that worry on her mind.

17. No one has any right to judge OP’s decision.

18. A minority on Reddit called OP an AH for making the nanny leave so abruptly.

19. Neither is disposable.

20. And on that note, I think we can safely say OP prioritized his family and got declared NTA for it.
