Some executives get drunk on power.

Power can be a potent drug, instilling those who wield it with a sense of control and authority. However, in some cases, this power can get to a manager’s head, leading to questionable decisions and ab*sing their authority. This phenomenon of managers becoming drunk on power can have negative consequences for both the individual and those they lead. This can ultimately lead to a toxic work environment and decreased productivity.

Just because someone is in a higher position does not imply they know more than everyone else. It also does not imply that they can impose any new rules they want. We’ve seen higher-ups treat their employees like tools time and again, and it never works out well for them. The following story is no different. The manager believed he could dock everyone’s pay for being a few minutes late, but it clearly backfired. It’s funny how higher-ups will quickly dock your pay for being a few minutes late but never reward you for arriving early.

OP’s boss was h*llbent on docking everyone’s pay for being a few minutes late.

It all started with the boss getting tired of every employee arriving a few minutes late, and thus he set a new rule.

The next day, OP arrived only a minute late because he forgot a tape measure in the car, but the manager wasn’t having it.

The boss tried to negotiate with OP, but he wasn’t going to budge and said it was illegal to ask him to work without pay.

The boss couldn’t say anything more after that, and the OP’s co-workers saw that as well, so they knew what to do now.

A lot of OP’s co-workers would just sit in the car or not come in until the fifteen minutes were over since they weren’t going to work for that time.

This went on for a few weeks until the higher-ups stepped in and chewed the boss out for lack of productivity.

It was a beautiful win for the team, but this did mean that the boss had a vendetta against OP from then on.

While the OP did end up getting fired, it was all worth it in the end.

Fortunately, the employees banded together and refused to accept the manager’s unfair punishment. Finally, the manager had to backtrack and apologise for his actions. Well, I say apologised, but it was more that they had to bow down because someone superior to them called him out. He definitely deserved much worse, and he got his revenge by firing OP, but I believe OP did a good thing for his coworkers as well. If he hadn’t stood up, the entire staff would have been in a bad situation.

People can do a lot if they stay together.

This kind of thing happens a lot.

Apparently, employers don’t care if they are doing something illegal.

The people in the comments had a lot to say about their personal experiences.

This kind of behaviour can end up with you losing good workers.

This is why you need to have some foresight.

If you are going to be late anyway, why not chill a bit as well?

Even a daycare tried to implement this method.

As it turns out, it doesn’t end well for the daycare.

Being a good boss is not as difficult as people make it out to be.

Unions exist for a reason, after all.
