Although it is an undeniable fact that cats are almost perfect in every way but there’s one thing which simply makes us go all gaga over them, their bleps! Cats are known to possess a long list of unique and beautiful features which makes them appear the cutest of all. Let’s start with those eyes, those enchanting eyes. They have the largest eyes as compared to all the mammals, in relation to their body size, of course. Next, those adorable ears which literally move like a radar trying to catch the frequencies. Then comes the teeth, their nose, the paws… like all this cuteness cannot be defined in words, simply.
But today we are going to be highlighting one of their most unique and cutest feature which is blep. Oh my, our tiny hearts just melt when we see our cats blep. For those of you who are not familiar with what a blep is, it’s an act of extending the tongue beyond the lips without opening the mouth completely. But as cute as it appears, some people wonder why does their cats blep so often? Are they thirsty? Are they hungry? Is their jaw okay? A cat owner would assume all sorts of possibilities but luckily, we do have an explanation for it.
According to an animal behaviour consultant who goes by the name of Amy Shojai explains that blepping is the way cats would get familiar with their surroundings. They use their sense of taste to get familiar with the environment. A cat will mostly blep while they try to investigate a new scent which could be of other cats. We bet you were not aware of it, were you?
