While this may sound like a joke, it actually happened with someone who had no intention of getting a cat but ended up with one anyway. They say unexpected friendships are the best, but this was totally different. It was a bit too unexpected. Clearly for cat lovers this would be a complete win-win situation, but even for them it would be a bit surprising first. Who on earth gives a free cat on the purchase of a couch?! But wait, was it even intentional? Let’s read the whole story.
Recently, Caylee Gilson moved to her new apartment and got rid of some of her old stuff. Along with other things she put her sectional sofa up for sale. Meanwhile, she also searched for some nice furniture for her new apartment and eventually found a cute gray couch. Although the couch was used it was the perfect match for her new apartment. After contacting the owner, Gilson and her boyfriend went to pick it up not knowing what was coming along with it—a furry little cat.
“[The seller had] already told me there was no liner under the couch because her Boston terrier liked to rub on the underside of the couch,” Gilson told The Dodo. “We packed all of it up in the truck and thank goodness we didn’t have to take a highway to get home. But it was about a 30-minute drive.”
Now comes the interesting part. The very next day Gilson worked from home and noticed nothing unusual. That was, until her son called her from the living room. “The next thing I know my son says, ‘Mama, there’s a cat in here,’” Gilson said. “I didn’t think anything of it because he is always talking about this imaginary cat named Ender Dragon.”
“I thought, ‘Oh, it’s just Ender Dragon, it’s fine. It’s not a big deal,’” Gilson continued. “But he’s like, ‘No mama, there’s a cat!’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, play with Ender Dragon, show him a good time.’ I honestly thought nothing of it.”
Gilson didn’t pay much attention and continued doing her work. But all of a sudden her dog started barking. So, she rushed back to check on the dog and that’s when she felt a strange presence. Upon closer inspection, she noticed a small white nose and two shinny eyes peering out at her from beneath the couch.
It was a full-fledged cat that had just appeared out of nowhere! Though the mysterious appearance of the cat was adorable, it left Gilson with many questions. How did the cat get inside when all the doors and windows were closed? “I started thinking, ‘The only thing I’ve changed is the couch. Maybe the cat came in with the couch,’” Gilson said.
Soon after the cat mom arrived and after a good 20 minutes long search, she was able to unite with her lost cat. The cat wasn’t quite happy about being separated from her favorite couch, but something had to be done. And just like that an adventurous day came to an end. Also, we hope the cat found itself a new couch to stay in.
