To us, cats are like children. Our own children. It doesn’t matter if we gave birth to them or not. We treat them as we would treat our own blood. Cat parents want to provide their furry babies with the best life. They feed them the highest quality of food, buy toys for their entertainment, keep them in a good, sheltered environment. Our cats’ needs come before our own. We don’t want them to be uncomfortable in any situation, but sometimes we have no choice. Such as travelling in an airplane with a cat, especially if it is in the cargo hold.
Mikhail Galin from Russia wanted his cat to be comfortable and tried to break some rules for them. It might not have ended up perfectly for him, but we totally understand him. Scroll down below for his story:
Mikhail was staying in Riga and was travelling back to Vladivostok when his plans were disturbed by the airline not allowing his cat, Viktor, to fly with him in the cabin.
Viktor was 5lbs overweight as he weighed a total of 22lbs. The airline staff informed Mikhail that Viktor would have to travel in the cargo hold.
Mikhail knew this would not end well for Viktor, as he had traveled in the cargo hold before but he was very disturbed by the awkward environment and sudden change in air pressure.
So Mikhail came up with his master plan. He requested on social media to borrow a cat that was similar to Viktor. Luckily, he found one, and the cat weighed less than Viktor too.
He swapped the cats at check-in so they would allow him in, and returned the similar cat and took back Viktor before boarding the plane.
However, Mikhail’s plans were spoiled as the staff caught him swapping the cats on surveillance cameras.
As a penalty, Mikhail was removed from the airline’s frequent flyer program and deducted 400,000 miles from his account.
