Cats are equal to us.

I know most people like to say that cats think they own everything and while this is particularly accurate, the actual truth is a bit different. They actually know that human owns everything but in their mind, they have a stake in everything as well. That is why sometimes a cat would pee on something that has your smell just to stake its claim on it. They basically think they are equal to everyone and that includes humans.

This might sound weird since we do most things for them, from cleaning their litter to giving them food but that is because we have put them in a position where they can’t do it themselves. In the wild, cats do everything by themselves and can hone their skills to become great hunters. We have to keep in mind that they’re basically in the same family as the tigers and such so this behavior starts to make a little more sense.

Cats have scent glands in many parts of their bodies including their paws. And when they scratch surfaces they are basically marking them as theirs. So when we see them ‘kneading’ us they are sort of staking their claim on us. Not only that but since in the times of Ancient Egypt, people used to worship cats, they still haven’t forgotten it and expect to be worshipped the same way today. So we just have to let them be.
