You can take the animal out of the wild and domesticate it, but you can not take away the instincts that it is born with. It is survival of the fittest in the wild and stealth is crucial to some animals. Some need to camouflage themselves from their predators so they won’t get caught and some hide from their prey so they can catch it by surprise. Now, with domesticated animals, they are not really preying on anything or are falling prey to another animal. They are safe and sound in the presence of their human. But as I said, you can not take the natural instincts of these animals away. You will often find your cat hiding behind a table to jump at your feet when you pass by, or your dog camouflaging itself using your carpet and almost tripping over them. These masters of stealth have a lot of skills up their sleeves and even though it might just seem like playtime to us, they are actually showing us what their instincts in the wild are like.
