Getting engaged and planning your dream wedding is both challenging and exciting. You aim for perfection while managing everyone’s expectations, knowing the stress that will come with it. Creating the guest list, choosing “the one” dress, and handling difficult family members are part of the process. Every family has one or two individuals who might disrupt the long-awaited celebration. It could be divorced parents who can’t stand each other, or like in this case, a brother-in-law who disrespects your wishes by bringing his badly behaved German Shepherd to your special day.
OP and OP’s husband got married a week ago, but things didn’t go as planned. OP’s brother-in-law, Jack (21), is spoiled and has always been passive-aggressive toward OP. Jack has a large, active German Shepherd he takes everywhere. He wanted to bring his dog to the wedding, but OP said no. Jack’s mom insisted the dog should come, but OP stood firm. At the wedding, Jack showed up with his dog, wearing a “dog dad” t-shirt. The dog ran around causing chaos and making guests uncomfortable. OP asked Jack to remove the dog, but he refused. After arguing, OP told Jack to leave. Jack’s mother called OP unreasonable and accused her of ruining the wedding. OP’s husband remained silent. Despite the family’s objections, OP felt she had to act as the dog was upsetting guests. Jack left with his dog, but the family remained upset, calling OP a bridezilla for enforcing the no-dogs rule at her wedding.
