You have seen your cats looking adorable all the time, receiving love and showing you the typical feline behavior but have you ever took a minute from your life and thought if your cat can act like all the best actors out there? It might sound impossible but yes, they can act and do better than you.
Who is not familiar with the very famous writer Stephen King? You might have read his novels or have watched one of his novels adapted into a film/TV show. One such adaptation is his very famous novel “Pet Sematary” which he did not like much at first since he used to think it was a terrible book because it spirals down into darkness but when the Pet Sematary Remake was released, it changed his whole point of view and Stephen King himself approved the movie by saying it was a great movie.
This horror fiction film revolves around a cat “Winston Church Churchill” known as “Church” in the film. This role was excellently performed by a few cats who brought this horrific film to life. With the release of the Pet Sematary Remake, the exciting yet truly horrifying novel became the topic of discussion for many netizens and here is what the viewers have to say about the iconic role of Church.

Church became the talk of the town after the movie was released. Some people think how interesting the job would be to go to the set every morning just to dirty up the adorable cat with coffee grounds and Vaseline. It also made people think who would be behind this job? Well, what an interesting job. Chalk and egg whites were used to give a matte effect to their fur. Corn syrup mixed with food coloring was used to create the illusion of blood. I am happy, the cats weren’t injured during the shooting.

Yes, cats do need makeup and some grooming to appear in front of the camera and to give the effects the director was looking for. Since Church was a pivotal character in the film, the three kitties named Tonic, JD and Leo were groomed on a daily basis by a professional makeup artist. It took the makeup artist 10 minutes per cat on an everyday basis to get them ready and they were kept happy during the grooming process so they can show their best moves on camera.

Yes, they were adopted and they found new homes where they lived happily but after the release of the movie, Leo’s handler broke the news that Leo passed away due to a condition called saddle thrombus.

This movie made everyone curious and thousands of questions arose in the viewers’ minds like where did these cats come from? How did they manage these cats? Well, these cats were collected from shelters and were trained for about two months to perform the role of Church. Well, that sounds impossible to train cats and turn them into amazing actors. Confident and happy cats were chosen from shelters and positive reinforcement was used to train them to give specific expressions on command e.g. to stare, run and hiss on command.
