We have been taught this since we were kids. But humans can’t help but judge people from their appearances. So anyone with loads of tattoos and piercings can come off as scary for many people even if they might be a big teddy bear inside. And some don’t understand that just because you like a certain type of music, doesn’t have anything to do with your personality. Okay, that may be a lie since our music choices can tell a lot about us.
However, metalheads or people who prefer hard rock aren’t actually out to destroy the world as some would have you believe. And just because their outer appearance may be intimidating for some, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a softer side. No person is a cardboard cutout of a stereotype. Humans have a lot of facets that make them whole so we shouldn’t be quick to judge someone over one thing.
That is probably why this movement started in the first place. They wanted to show a softer and more caring side to the people that can be seen as intimidating at first.

These digital prints are not only fun, but they are also adorable. After all, one wouldn’t expect a band member from a band name Cattle decapitation to be cuddling with a small kitten. But that is exactly what makes these photos that much more interesting. They are flipping the perspective many people hold and showing these metal-heads in a new light which they definitely deserve. And since they are also doing it for a good cause, we should all go and give them a helping hand.
Metal Cats combines two amazing subjects: the extreme personalities of the hardcore metal music scene and their adorable kitties. These incredibly cute and fluffy felines have been photographed with their loving owners in and around the dark abodes of musicians, fans, and promoters of metal including members of the bands Black Goat, Thrones, Isis, Lightning Swords of Death, Book of Black Earth, Skarp, Harassor, Akimbo, Aldebaran, Atriarch, Oak, Ghoul, Ludicra, Holy Grail, Xasthur, Cattle Decapitation, Murder Construct, Exhumed, Morbid Angel, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Gypsyhawk, Nausea, Phobia, and Napalm Death. –Alexandra Crockett
