In this story, a couple has been using an 18-year-old babysitter for over three years, and they’ve recently moved into a house from an apartment. The babysitter had been punctual and reliable in the past, but since the move, she’s been consistently arriving late. Her reason for the tardiness is that she struggles to find street parking near their new house and often ends up parking in a public lot several blocks away.

To accommodate the babysitter, the couple has been parking their cars on the street, making space in their driveway for her to park her car. This decision has created a contradiction with their neighbor, who typically parks in front of the couple’s house. The neighbor has approached the couple to express their displeasure about them using street parking when they have a driveway spot available.

The couple’s response to the neighbor’s complaint varies. The husband seems more understanding of both sides of the issue and believes that they should explore alternative solutions to the parking problem. However, the wife feels that they shouldn’t have to move their cars to accommodate their neighbor, especially since they’re concerned about the safety of their 18-year-old babysitter walking a long distance to her car late at night. Now OP wants to ask you guys whether she’s an A-hole for saving a parking spot for their babysitters.

1. OP and her husband have a babysitter who comes once a week, they have had this babysitter over for 3 years now. They lived in the same building so she was never late and there was no concern about her walking back to her apartment.

2. Last year OP moved into a house and the babysitter started showing up late, the reason was she was not able to find any street parking so she used to park at public parking which was 8 blocks away.

3. OP said the problem is their neighbor who usually parks in front of their house is out of a parking spot and he even came to complain about the parking on the street even though OP has a driveway spot available, so OP replied parking is first come and first serve.

4. The neighbor thinks OP is being selfish but OP thinks they should not move their cars so he can park in front of their house because she doesn’t feel comfortable, having their babysitter walk 8 blocks to her car at night.

5. Now OP wants to know whether she’s an A-hole for saving a parking spot for the babysitter

6. The street parking rule is always first come first serve so it does not make OP an A-hole
