Employee Gets Denied A Job Because Of Her Appearance, Tells Internet About The Pretty Privilege

Which is more important, your appearance or your talent?

Pretty privilege is a phenomenon in which people who are considered conventionally attractive receive advantages and preferential treatment in various aspects of life. This can affect professional opportunities, social interactions, and even legal outcomes. The concept of pretty privilege raises questions about how physical appearance influences one’s life experiences and opportunities. It also sheds light on the underlying biases and societal norms that contribute to this phenomenon, emphasising the importance of recognising and addressing these issues in order to promote equality and fairness for all people, regardless of their physical appearance.

However, in today’s society, appearance discrimination in the workplace is becoming more common. Many people struggle to find work because of their physical appearance rather than their qualifications or skills. This type of discrimination not only harms people’s career prospects but also reinforces harmful stereotypes and biases. However, regardless of how much we preach about not judging a book by its cover, how well put together you are is important. But that wasn’t an issue in this case.

Interviews can be quite nerve-wracking for people.

One also has to make sure they look their best when going for an interview.

For one woman, her interview for a company went incredibly well.

She was waiting to be called again, but an email stated that she would not be moving on to the next round.

The reason for her rejection was that she hadn’t put in enough effort to improve her appearance.

It was all because she didn’t have makeup on.

She wonders if makeup is really that important when she clearly put a lot of effort into how she looked that day.

She was apparently well dressed but had on just a lip balm.

I could have understood it if she had shown up in shorts and trainers, but that is not what she did. She sounded professional and appeared well-dressed. The only thing she didn’t wear was makeup, which I think is perfectly acceptable. I enjoy doing makeup, but not everyone does, and it shouldn’t matter whether or not you wear makeup when you’re not interviewing to be a model or something similar. However, this is how the world works right now, and it is truly sad.

I have to wonder the same thing.

Apparently, this is more common than we think.

I am not sure if they would even care.

I have to agree that this is discrimination.

Maybe she thought the TikTok user would keep quiet.

That might be an idea, but it is a costly one.

This would never be said to a man in any situation.

However, there were some people who agreed with the letter.

Apparently, the company might have wanted a more polished look.

Does impressing someone mean you need to put on makeup?

This kind of thing apparently happens more than we think.

Even the texture of your hair can affect your interview.

This is, sadly, the reality.

Makeup can mean different things to different people.

I have to say that this is just straight-up discrimination.
