Some people are really proud of the fact that they do not support kill shelters. They do not donate to them, volunteer there, or adopt from any of them. They think this support would be morally wrong as the shelter is allowed to kill animals. However, they are causing more harm than good by doing this. If you love animals, it is very important to understand how these shelters work and what we can do to save the lives of the innocent beings living there. Educating ourselves on these things can help save a lot of lives. While I understand the sentiments behind not wanting to support a shelter that euthanizes animals, we need to know the reason why this happens. It does not happen because the people there like killing animals. Our society is part of the reason it has to happen and we can work together to stop it.
A woman on Twitter wrote a thread explaining the difference between a kill and no-kill shelter that is highly misunderstood by people. She went on a seven-tweet rant to explain the importance of supporting kill shelters. It might sound absurd right now, but wait till you see the reasoning behind it. Scroll down below to read her explanation:
If you really think about it, the woman’s tweets really do make sense. If we hate the killing of these animals so much, why can’t we just prevent that by adopting the animals living there who are desperately waiting to go to their forever homes? It is not the fault of the animals that they ended up in a kill shelter.
Do you agree with the woman? Is her reasoning making sense to you? What do you feel about kill and no-kill shelters? Would you adopt from a kill shelter? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
