Growing up as a woman is not easy.
Navigating the complexities of societal expectations, gender norms, and pressure to succeed can be difficult for young women. From body image standards to career aspirations, girls and women face a wide range of challenges that are constantly evolving. As we explore the experiences of growing up as a woman in the modern era, it becomes clear that the path to self-discovery and empowerment is complex and nuanced.
Now, I’m not going to sit here and say that women are treated the same way they were years ago, but it’s clear that there is still work to be done to achieve true gender equality. However, that is not what we are here to discuss. Instead of focusing on gender inequality, today’s comics ruminate on the struggles that girls face as they navigate the world. I am, of course, referring to the artist Akansha Choudhury and her powerful depiction of the struggles that girls face in her work.
