Contractor Dodges A “Choosing Beggar Bullet”

Contract work is not easy.

Not only do you have to deal with new clients with different habits and behaviors every time, but you also have to give them a ‘reasonable’ quote for the prices of materials and your own fee. All in all, it is definitely not as easy as many people make it out to be. And at the end of the day, there is no guarantee that the client will even like what you have done.

And I am not even mentioning the people who basically want everything for free or as cheap as humanly possible. While I can understand not everyone has a fortune to spend on a new bathroom but you get what you pay for. So if you don’t have a lot, just choose the material that is within your budget. It really is that simple and the contractor doesn’t waste their time quoting you prices of materials you clearly can’t afford.

However, this woman didn’t understand this simple ‘fact’. You can scroll on below and take a look at how that went.

I am not an expert at this kind of stuff but even I know the price she wants is too low.

Having gone through a bath remodel, What the hell was she thinking? Mine wasn’t even super amazing but it cost near 15k. Tiles ain’t cheap. –DonaldTrumps

If you can then why don’t you?

I work for an interior designer and we deal with the same crap sometimes. There’s fast, there’s cheap, and there’s quality. You can only get two. –Tairu8

I wish that is how it worked but not everything is installed the same way.

Then quality also means expensive most of the time.

You just can’t wish for things and them to appear on your whim. That is not how the world works.

I work for a tile company in supply chain. He wasn’t lying when he said the lead time for sourced material in Italy takes forever to arrive. And that is providing that there aren’t any glitches in the process. –ConManSpaceHero

I am glad that at least she got the hint and moved on rather than pestering him.

Home owners never realize nor understand, there’s comes point when a contractor is willing to fire a customer. Much like an employee. Patients are pretty surprised when they get fired too. Because every consumer believes “the customer’s always right.”Bugghunter
