Cats, just like humans, have unique and various personality traits. Hence, we can’t really say that some of these behaviors are normal behaviors while others are not normal because all cats are unique and special in their own way. Cats by their innate nature are hunters, just like coyotes and bigger cat species. Higher places in the house and trees provide a sense of security to the cats. They can sit in those higher places and get a better view of their prey. If a cat is on the ground and it sees that an unfamiliar person or an animal is approaching it, they will run and try to climb a tree or a higher place like cupboards.
