Redditor Gets Berated By Mean Roommate For Asking Their Friend To Not Bring Their Aggressive Service Dog Again

Aggressive Dog

Not everybody likes dogs.

Dogs are beautiful creatures, and many people adore them. While dogs are often thought to be man’s best friend, not everyone feels the same way about them. Some people may have had negative experiences with dogs in the past, while others may prefer different types of pets. Even if there isn’t a deep-seated reason for the dislike, it’s fine to dislike a specific type of animal; it doesn’t make you weird. The same goes for service dogs.

Even if a company or store prohibits dogs, service dogs are typically exempt. After all, people get service animals for specific reasons. That also means that service dogs are well-trained and used to interacting with strangers. However, this is not always the case, and many people lie about service dogs. They simply claim to have service dogs, but they have no certification for them. So it’s not surprising that the dog may become aggressive if they’re not properly trained for every situation.

At least that is what happened in his specific story. Scroll down to see for yourself.

Dogs are lovable, but that doesn’t mean they don’t make mistakes.

The story starts with OP and her roommate, who pay less than the market rent.

Things were going okay with the roommate until OP’s fiance decided to move back in, and now the roommate is being quite childish.

The reason for her childish behaviour is her best friend, who came over a few days ago.

This best friend has a service dog who hasn’t been trained properly and thus ended up biting OP’s hand.

OP understandably asked the friend not to bring the dog to her house anymore, but OP’s roommate is not happy with this decision.

The friend understood and had nothing against the decision, but the roommate thinks she should have a vote on it.

OP doesn’t want this to be a big issue and wants her fiance’s move-in to be stress-free, but she isn’t sure as to what she should do.

We also get a summary of what happened for those who don’t want to read the full story.

I don’t think the OP did anything wrong by making it clear that the dog was no longer welcome in her home. The nuclear response would have been to contact the authorities, which would not have gone well for the dog. I also believe that herĀ flatmate should not have any say in this. After all, it is solely between the OP and the friend and no one else’s business. The flatmate appears to be sticking her nose where it does not belong, which is not going to end well for her.

The best solution would be to simply ask her to move rather than engage in an argument with her.

People in the comments were sceptical about the dog training.

Evicting her might sound harsh, but it might be necessary.

It is not really the roommate’s business, and she should keep quiet.

It does sound like it is time for her to move out.

The dog would have ended up in a very bad situation if OP had reported the dog.

Having the vote just so she can calm down might also not be a bad idea.

If she wants a vote, give her exactly that.

Trained service dogs don’t usually bite people.

This might be the case.

I have to agree with this sentiment.

She really didn’t think this one through.
