Woman Gets Angry At Parents For Ruining Her Dog’s $2000 Training By Spoiling It

Training is one of the major responsibilities that come with adopting a dog.

By training your dog, you set a few boundaries for it to operate within. Training in no way limits your dog from enjoying life at its full potential. It is a way of being obedient. Yes, dogs are very sociable and they love to play, you do not want them to compromise on any of that but in overall terms, training your dog to be slightly responsible with the way it conducts its actions. Now that sounds like a solution every dog owner wants to achieve it makes like easy. Just because your dog is having the zoomies, you don’t want it to take a dump on the floor in excitement, you still want it to inform you. I know, a weird example but it gets the point across.

Training a dog is a proper challenge because you have to apply different strategies according to the dog breed, and there are over 300 recognized dog breeds in the world. And it also is a very costly process to get your dog trained by a trainer, costly in terms of man hours, money, and your own effort to make sure the dog doesn’t slip after being trained. Once your dog is trained, you want anyone who is at your house to follow certain procedures and guidelines while interacting with the dog because they tend to forget quickly and it is important to keep the training fresh in their minds.

Reddit user u/LudicrousEngineer shared on the internet how they faced major problems related to the matter shared above. Her parents would keep spoiling her dog and the OP got concerned it would ruin all the expensive training she got her dog.

The matter was posted on the sacred community of AITA by OP to know if she was right or wrong for not wanting her parents to spoil her dog. Scroll down below to read!

1. Well that depends on why did you ask her to stop doing that.

2. Are we just going to ignore the fact that his woman broke up with her boyfriend to get a dog? This is a bit messed up if you think about it.

Anyways, let’s continue with the story.

Via Reddit

3. OP’s dog had some aggressiveness towards her and because OP didn’t have enough time to train her dog, she paid a trainer $2000 to do it for her.

I think the point to take from this text is the thing OP said about not saying a command more than once.

Via Reddit

4. OP’s parents’ love for her dog actually ended up in them spoiling her…in the name of cuteness.

Via Reddit

5. And there you have it, the spoiling started resulting in problems to occur with the dog’s training, she stopped responding to the word “come” because of the over usage of it.

Via Reddit

6. OP got super concerned everything would go to waste in terms of the training, she blew up on her mother, and that resulted in her parents wanting to leave the house.

Via Reddit

7. The matter got brought up again and this time OP’s mother asked her to move out because it was her house and they couldn’t live with the strict guidelines that would keep her dog “trained”. …wow!

Via Reddit

8. So that’s why OP lives with her parents.

Two untrained dogs mean the parents were never into dog training.

Via Reddit

9. OP got confused if what she did was right or not and left her fate in the hands of the community members of AITA.

Via Reddit

I would say OP is the AH in this case. I mean, first of all, the fact that she broke up with her boyfriend to get a dog, I still can’t get over it. What sort of a requirement is that and how on Earth did it get fulfilled?

Second of all, the sidenote was really helpful in deciding that OP was the AH. OP shared that her parent has 2 dogs at the house who are not trained at all. That means her parents were never into the complexities of training a dog and the whole training environment would make them uncomfortable. OP should’ve known about this and shouldn’t have overreacted at her parents not complying with the procedures and guidelines to keep the dog trained.

Here is what the internet had to say about this:

10. OP’s parents won’t listen.

Via Reddit

11. The parents were never going to feel comfortable with the whole training thing.

Via Reddit

12. And that is your problem, not anyone else’s.

Via Reddit

13. A comment in OP’s favor about her parents not being able to understand the importance of dog training.

Via Reddit

14. Both parties were declared AHs by this Redditor, and the reasons are pretty valid.

Via Reddit

15. See, saying one command has significance, and OP’s parents ignored that.

Via Reddit

16. OP must move out as quickly as she can.

“This is the same dog. My friend adopted her after she just showed up on her porch. She had to have all her teeth removed, she had a giant sore on her leg and under her tail, and she was a giant matted mess. I groomed her and made her brand-new babe, feeling so fresh and clean.”
