I mean don’t get me wrong, I love practical gifts since I actually will have some use for them. However, It is nice to get something just for the heck of it even if it is cheaper than something practical. After all, who doesn’t like to treat themselves once in a while? This wife has a somewhat similar issue.
You see she really wanted a more powerful model of a microwave for her kitchen. No matter what Gordon Ramsay says, most people can’t live without a microwave. So she had wanted a specific one and Christmas was close. Perhaps this is why her husband decided to give her a microwave as a surprise gift.
Let’s just say it didn’t as well as he had planned. You can read the full story by scrolling below.

NAH. Tell him you looked at it and it’s not the model you want. Get the receipt and return it yourself.
Suggestion: Have a conversation about Christmas gifts (and birthday/anniversary/Valentine’s Day gifts). Maybe talk about planning those gifts together. I suggest you flat-out tell him that appliances are not gifts, they are household equipment and you need to determine which model is correct for the kitchen.
Really, have this conversation or you’ll be getting vacuum cleaners and table saws and sewing machines for years to come. –NoxWild

Amazon wish lists are great! My sister and I have ones for grown-ups and ones for kids, and it makes holidays and birthdays so much less stressful because we can pick something in our budgets that we know the other person will enjoy! Especially since we live several states away and don’t get to see each other that often to stay on top of what everyone is up to these days! –aSeaPersonByNight

Agreed, I let my husband know from day 1 that household items are not gifts. I grew up with a dad who only gave household stuff to my mom. Oh, the washing machine is broken? Her birthday is soon. Boooo. –Firefox42-2020
