Adopt never shop!

I know I have said this thousand of times by now but this story highlights why it is so important to rescue or adopt an animal rather than buying one. Because there are so many animals who need our help but are stuck roaming the streets where they get sick and then no one wants to adopt a flea-ridden dog. But this is changing day by day and more and more people are looking towards adoption centres to get a companion for life.

However, this story is a bit different. This particular doggo wasn’t really rescued from the streets. More so she invited herself to someone’s house and decided to stay. She was sick and in bad shape so she wouldn’t leave no matter what. I suppose she sensed that the people in this house will help her and unsurprisingly they did to get her back on his feet.

This is the stray dog and as you can see, she was in bad shape.

She was wandering the streets and ended up on this family’s porch.

The family just gave her some food and water. But even after all that, she just didn’t want to leave. I suppose she got tired of wandering the streets and wanted a comfortable house to rest in.

This happened in Texas and just look at those eyes!

You can see that she wants head scritches by the look on her face.

This puppy showed up in someone’s driveway in La Porte yesterday. They fed her and she wouldn’t leave their porch. They couldn’t allow her inside and they hoped she wouldn’t wander off while they looked for help. We can’t imagine what she thought as she looked inside the glass, but we are thankful she found a family that would get her some help. One of our fosters couldn’t stand to see her continue sleeping on the porch so she picked her up last night and brought her to safety.

She’s a little baby at about 4-5 months old, and she likely has demodex mange. She’ll see a vet tomorrow but today, she’s resting peacefully inside. We’ll get this baby back to health in no time! When I first got there, she was a little skittish, but once I let her smell me, she let me pet her and immediately started licking my face. She would not walk on a leash, so I just picked her up and got her in my car and we headed home. She must have been ready to be rescued because although she was scared, it was very easy to gain her trust and get her to safety.

She was put into foster care as soon as possible.

She was soon taken to the vet.

She is still in the foster system but that is because she needs to be healthy before she can be put up for adoption. However, she is well on her way to the road of recovery with the help of foster care and a vet. Her name is Lila and I am sure that she will find a loving home soon enough! I mean how can someone not fall in love with that adorable face?

She has adapted well. She loves back scratches and belly rubs, but more than anything she is loving food. Once she is feeling better and a little more decompressed she will be up for adoption.
