Shelters provide a safe space for animals but is it the best place for animals? Well, if we talk about animals such as dogs, who are living in a shelter, they spend most of their time alone and don’t really have much to do. The life in a shelter is more stressful, frustrating and damaging than in a natural environment. Even some of the best shelters can be frightening and loud for dogs. Dogs tend to live a very depressive and sad life in shelters. Most of the dogs enjoy living with their owners in their houses, where their needs are being fulfilled and they are getting a happy and safe environment. On the other hand, shelter dogs have to spend a lot of time in those tiny cages and wait every day for some kind human to come and rescue them and take them along. But shelters also wish that these dogs get home and humans of their own, they try their best to get potential adopters who will adopt these cute dogs! This is what the Kitsap Humane Society in Washington is trying to do.
A volunteer from this shelter named Molly Clark used to take her pups for a ride. She tends to stop at a local Starbucks where she ordered a coffee for herself and a “puppuccino” for her four-legged companion. However, later on, she decided to create an official program for these special occasions and named it “Puppuccino Pals.” Cute, isn’t it?
