During A Polar Vortex, This Stray Cat Begged To Come Inside This Man’s Home

During the coldest time of the year, in February, some areas in North America were hit by a Polar Vortex. Due to the Polar Vortex, the wild storm was hitting the towns. This storm is called a “snow squall”. While humans get to shelter themselves in their homes and stay protected, the stray animals struggle in such weather. Most of you are unaware of how cold weather is a difficult time for our poor cats. Especially in storms, cats struggle with finding places where they can be protected. They seek warm spots where their bodies won’t have to deal with icy temperatures. You would notice that in winter, cats usually hide in cozy spots around you to keep warm. Some cats are fortunate enough to find places but others struggle.

Today, we have a story that’s a little too adorable and also a learning point for us! We need to help out our little voiceless buddies during the tough times. After all, they are always there when you need them! Scroll down and check it out;

More Info: Nathaniel Styer

Nathaniel Styers was going on with his day when he noticed a tabby cat peeking from the house’s window with desperation in her eyes. It was obvious in her eyes that she wanted to come inside the house.

This little fellow was looking at Nathaliniel with these adorable eyes, requesting to be taken as a refugee.

Nathaniel realized that the kitten was called Chunk Chunk and belonged to the colony near her house. He had seen her around in the neighborhood. It appeared that the cat was not able to handle the deadly storm and wanted to go somewhere safe. Only a four-walled building with a roof could shield her from the storm.

Here’s what he had to say about it;

I’ve never seen her react this way before. It was clear that she didn’t know what to do in the storm.

Let me in Hooman!

Now we all know not everybody is as crazy about cats as we are and Nathaniel is actually one of those people who aren’t so fond of cats. But, his fiance, Renee Becerra, is the complete opposite. She’s so in love with cats that she often finds herself going around their neighborhood and ensuring all the stray cats are fed, happy, and healthy!

However, Chunk Chunk wasn’t exactly one of those stray cats. We don’t know where she hides but she mostly comes around the time of fall. Sneaky one you are ms. Chunk Chunk!  And Nathaniel being the amazing fiance that he is decided it’s best to help out Chunk Chunk even in the absence of Renee!

I’ve always been pretty reticent about bringing the cats inside, but I knew Renee would really want me to help Chunk Chunk out. I love Renee and I knew helping Chunk Chunk was the right thing to do.

Cozy towel? Now we’re talking!

Seeing Chunk Chunk struggling in the bad weather warmed Styler’s heart and he opened the window for the kitten to enter. After entering the house, the kitten started doing unusual things out of awkwardness. We just can’t help but adore the process of cats slowly becoming the real owners (from their usual shy self, initially). It’s just extremely wholesome!

She allowed me to pick her up, which is unusual for our community cats. When I set her down, she instantly ran around the house and tried to run out through another window. She learned it was closed when she ran into it.

Did you really just let me run into a closed window, Styler? Tsk Tsk!

Little did Renee know, a little surprise was waiting for her back at home. This is exactly what elated her mood when she found Chunk Chunk in their house. Well, technically in the bathroom because Nathaniel wanted to keep her safe and away from their dogs.

From the first time she appeared at our window, she’s been one of the friendliest community cats that I’ve ever come across. She’s always asking for pets and starts purring within seconds.

Look at this chunky Chunk Chunk.

This is not the first time Nathaniel and Renee helped a stray cat. There were a lot of stray cats near their house and they have always been generous towards their treatment with them. They managed to find permanent homes for a lot of baby kittens.  As if that was not enough, Becerra also aims to spay/neuter stray cats she sees around. She realizes how dangerous it is for more cats to be born without a home. Being homeless can be very dangerous for cats. They lack proper nutrition and hygiene, which puts them at risk for many diseases and lower life expectancy.

Why have you trapped me in here?

Our Chunk Chunk darling has already been spayed, fortunately!

Becerra not only helps the homeless cats but also encourages the people around her to join her in working for the welfare of stray cats.

Winter is the hardest time of year [for these cats]. I’ve built three winter shelters and regularly provide food. Winter shelters can be bought from some cat rescues but they’re also really easy to make … If you have the space or a safe quiet spot in your neighborhood, I would definitely recommend putting some out.

The little kitty behind them is an actual mood!

Luckily for Chunk Chunk, these two have big plans for her;

We’re still figuring out what’s next for Chunk Chunk, but in the meantime, she’ll be staying with us. Chunk Chunk seems to be more suited for life indoors versus outdoors, so I’ll be reaching out to our contacts at the ASPCA to see if they can assist me in finding her a home.

How can cats remain angry even in such a cozy state?

Chunk Chunk is here to stay!

Chunk Chunk’s stay at Nathaniel and Rebecca’s has lasted for longer than it was expected. They thought he will be here only till the storm lasts, but it has been a few months and they cannot imagine letting go of this little feline fellow. Chunk Chunk is so adorable, I don’t think anyone would have it in them to let him go.

Share this with other people and encourage them to rescue stray cats! It could save many precious little lives that need a loving home.
