Being a good neighbour requires compromising.

Being a good neighbour entails more than simply being friendly and helpful; it also necessitates compromise. Building strong relationships with those who live nearby frequently entails finding common ground, respecting boundaries, and being willing to make sacrifices for the greater good of the community. By understanding the value of compromise, we can foster a harmonious and supportive environment for everyone in our community. However, being willing to compromise does not imply that you should allow everyone to walk all over you.

To maintain a healthy balance in your relationships with neighbours, you must set boundaries and stand up for yourself when necessary. You can foster positive interactions and mutual respect in your community by striking a balance between accommodating and assertive behaviour. After all, there will always be neighbours who try to take advantage of you, so one must exercise caution. This is also what the OP’s neighbours are attempting to accomplish in the following story.

Property matters are always more complicated than they seem.

OP bought her property a while ago, but she has had issues with her neighbours ever since.

She had a disagreement with her neighbours over some trees, and thus she had a property survey done.

This also revealed that the other neighbours had built their fence 6 feet into her backyard.

The OP informed the neighbours about this, but they got angry and insisted that the survey was wrong.

After a month or so, they decided to ask OP to sell the few feet to them.

By this time, OP found out that the neighbours had their own survey done a year prior and still built into OP’s yard.

This obviously irritated the OP, and thus she refused to see the property no matter how much the neighbours asked.

It is clear that the neighbours thought they could take advantage of some younger people.

OP has also suggested that she’d let them sue her land if an agreement is made.

They didn’t like that solution, but they haven’t brought up the issue in three years.

OP is not happy with her neighbours, as they have been spreading rumours about her to the rest of the neighbourhood.

We also have a little summary for people who don’t want to read the full story.

It may appear that the OP is being unreasonable; after all, it is not a large plot of land that the neighbours have built on, but if I were in his situation, I would have probably done the same. After all, it’s more suspicious that they knew exactly what they were doing when they built their fence. Not only that, but they discussed hiring a lawyer when they already knew they were in the wrong. I’m sure they’re just being quiet because they believe the problem will go away if they don’t discuss it. According to some countries’ laws, this could happen.

People in the comments were quite worried about the situation, though.

It would be a good idea to bring in a lawyer at this point.

That is not a good thing to hear.

She needs to take action right now.

Even if OP ends up selling the property.

Not addressing the issue is not a good idea.

That would be quite funny.
