OP, a 40-year-old mother, has been contending with a persistent issue involving her 14-year-old daughter, Maggie, who consistently slams her bedroom door, causing disruptions for the entire household. Despite numerous polite and firm requests to cease the behavior, Maggie continued the door slamming, prompting OP and her husband to take a drastic step. After another night of disturbances, the parents removed Maggie’s bedroom door and replaced it with a heavy curtain on a curtain rod. While OP believes this consequence is a reasonable response to the ongoing disruption, Maggie perceives it as an intrusion on her privacy, accusing her parents of emotional abu**. The family is now at an impasse, with Maggie refusing to communicate and sulking, while OP grapples with conflicting opinions on whether her actions were justified
So keep on scrolling down below to read the whole story narrated by OP and make sure to read it till the end otherwise, you won’t be able to let us know whether OP is an a-hole or not.
1. OP has 3 kids Maggie, Levi, and Charlie. Charlie and Levie share a bedroom while the oldest Maggie has her room.
2. OP said Maggie is a great kid she does her homework, helps with chores too, and doesn’t bug her brothers. But the issue is that she constantly slams her door when she gets up to use the bathroom on her way out or in.
3. Due to slamming the door it shakes the wall and frequently wakes up everyone else in the house OP said she has talked about it and asked her very politely to be mindful of it but it didn’t work
4. OP wakes up at 5 AM and due to her slamming the door all 4 of them woke up and when OP approached her she opened the door and said what? With an attitude and it bugged OP and she says it took a lot of self-control that she didn’t yell
5. OP told her calmly that if she slammed the door one more time she was going to come home and find it gone she proceeded to yell at OP and slammed the door five times moreover, so OP and her husband decided to take the door out and replace it with curtains. And when she came home she freaked out and started yelling and claimed it was emotional abu**.
17. Exactly, OP didn’t only remove the door but OP went and installed a heavy curtain and she should have complied with it or simply stopped slamming doors.
