Her manager informed the two women that they must choose between working on Christmas Day either they or a coworker that decision lies with them.

About one million people in the UK are working hard, just like Jessiejuju, on Christmas Day, while the rest of us enjoy the day unwrapping presents, bingeing, and celebrating with family. Over half a million British workers in the caregiving and medical fields reported working on December 25.
The priests, however, are proportionately the group most likely to be at work on Christmas Day as people swarm to services across the nation. If anything, the proportion of those who reported working on Christmas Day is present at very low one was in two. However, this figure is still high when compared to the typical for the UK, which is fewer than one in 35 employed people.
It’s important to note that UK workers are given the time off to attend to a dependent’s crisis (a dependant is considered to be a spouse, partner, child, grandchild, parent, or someone who depends on receiving their care).
So because circumstances vary from context to context, the government is allowing “a reasonable period off” to handle these circumstances. For example, if a person’s child becomes ill, they can take time off work to go to the doctor and arrange for treatment.
Workers, however, are not permitted to take time off if they were aware of a scenario in advance. Which is the situation with Jessiejuju, established in the post.
