Man Leaves For A Ski Trip Without Telling Wife And Sick Daughter

Is it okay to go on a ski trip with your friends while your daughter is sick?

I don’t think any father or mother would ever do such a thing to their child. Knowing that your child is unwell and it is the most clingy to one parent when it happens, the parent under less load should do everything in their power to be there for the two and balance the burden properly. Children with a permanent medical condition are very picky about things and you have to conform to it, you cannot tell them no because for the most part, even they don’t have authority over their decisions. So if your child is sick and it likes to be with his/her mother, as a father you should be responsible and find ways to lower the mother’s burden and not think about him getting exhausted and how to deal with that exhaustion.

In today’s story, we have a father who shares a story about his autistic daughter Chloe and how her sickness had been exhausting him and his wife. Chloe had been sick for over a month and when she gets stuck, she likes to sleep with her mother. This resulted in her mother having a lot of sleepless nights. The father played his role and took care of his daughter whenever he could. This resulted in the father getting exhausted as well and to deal with the tiring routine, he decided to leave with his friends to enjoy a ski trip.

The father did this even though his wife had shut the idea down because she believed he used to get all his rest at night while she used to stay awake every night to look after her daughter.

The decision to leave for the ski trip angered OP’s wife. The matter was posted on the sacred community of AITA to know whether he was right or wrong for leaving for a ski trip to deal with his exhaustion…without letting his family know.

OP was the AH in this story. It made no sense for him to leave for a trip with his friends while his autistic daughter was still sick. He shifted all the burden back to his wife in terms of dealing with his daughter. And if you think about it, he used to get a good 8 hours of sleep every night while Chloe’s mom was the one who would sleep with her, and as you have read, her way of sleeping never let the mom sleep properly.

So if there is anyone who deserved a ski trip, it was the mother. Not the AH OP.
