We’re all guilty of it. Who hasn’t gone to the grocery store and asked another customer to assist them with their purchases? I know I have, and I always end up super stressed and unsure of what to do afterwards. After laughing at myself, I usually just shuffle away quietly. However, some people do not behave in this manner and instead double down on their ‘mistake’. I mean, isn’t it customary to inquire about a person’s employment status before requesting anything else? Even if they are wearing a uniform, I do this because you never know when they will be on break.
Karens, on the other hand, are not like that. And they believe that anyone who is not them is somehow beneath them. Even if someone is dressed in colours that are diametrically opposed to those of the store uniform, they will insist on your assistance or call the manager. What I find so amusing about this is that so many women named Karen are now coming forward and claiming that Karen is a sl*r, which ironically is how they identify themselves as pure Karen. Karen is a type of behaviour rather than a name. So, if your name is Karen, does that mean you’re The Karen? Obviously not. But this lady is.

What on earth was this woman thinking? Or had she turned off her brain for the duration of the interaction? I can see mistaking someone for an employee, but why did she have to go so far? And how could she have missed the fact that he was also paying for his groceries? Isn’t it true that everyone double-checks their bills before stuffing them into their pockets? Even if you don’t, you should have an idea of how much everything will cost in the end, right? Is this some rich people thing I’m not getting?
Have you ever been misidentified as an employee by someone? Was it a genuine mistake, or was it a Karen being entitled? How did you handle it if it was the latter?
