They are just so tiny that you either want to playfight with them or squish them most of the time. However, dogs can grow up pretty fast, and within a year, they can go from an adorable little floof to a fully grown floof. But this doesn’t mean they get any less charming. We are all well aware of the fact that shelters are full of elder dogs. And that is because most people decide to adopt a puppy rather than an old doggo who needs a home.
It is a sad fact that people usually prefer puppies, but elder dogs need love too. I understand wanting a puppy since you want them to grow up with you. But what is more beautiful than giving an ‘unwanted’ dog a loving home before it passes away? At least they will know they were loved when their end comes. This is precisely why today we have decided to dedicate this article to older doggos.
So scroll below to enjoy looking at dogs on the older side living their life to the fullest.
My 10+yo dog likes to sleep on my legs. I made her this out of some of my old jeans for her to sleep on while I’m at work.
Life is hard for more mature dogs, as they are not as active or spry as they used to be. And most people who want dogs adopt one because they want an active lifestyle. But it is always good to think about these older fellows before deciding on what you want. Just as older humans need help and love, so do these dogs. And they only have humans to look after them. Hopefully, we can spread this message so people stop abandoning dogs when they get old. Yes, it does happen, and it is unfortunate.
