PTO refers to paid time off.

PTO, or paid time off, is a valuable benefit offered by many employers that allows employees to take time off while still receiving pay. This time can be used for vacation, sick leave, personal days, or other reasons specified in the employer’s policy. PTO is a critical component of work-life balance and employee well-being. Employers should understand that this is a legal requirement rather than an incentive. However, many employers disregard the law and refuse to provide their employees with paid time off.

Employees should be aware of their PTO rights and advocate for themselves if they do not receive this benefit. Employers who fail to provide PTO may be in violation of labour laws and face legal consequences. However, not everyone has the time or financial resources to file a lawsuit or something similar, and many companies take advantage of this simple fact. At the very least, with the Internet in place, people can now express themselves more freely.

One employee took to TikTok when he was denied PTO because the manager couldn’t find others to fill in for him.

Rather than apologising or making excuses, she instead said that he was lucky to have this job considering how the economy is right now.

The employee was done with the manager and said he was going to take time off anyway.

I know a lot of companies like to say they are family, but no matter how close your coworkers are, your actual family should always come first. Work should never be the top priority, but in an economy where most people are living hand-to-mouth, many people appear to have forgotten this. It is critical to strike a healthy work-life balance and prioritise personal relationships over professional ones. The pressure to work constantly and earn a living can sometimes cause people to neglect their loved ones, which should be avoided. Things like PTO are an important part of that.

People in the comments were mostly on his side as well.

Six months is actually quite a long time to plan for things.

They are not giving it to you as a gift; it is a benefit that employees earn.

Honestly, that is what PTO should mean in the first place.

It is surprising to see companies think that they own their employees.

Even people in HR were on his side.

When PTO is available, it isn’t a request.

It can be difficult to find new jobs, but this manager knows nothing.

This would be a good idea if OP has the luxury of finding a new job.

That would feel quite satisfying to say.

They will never be more important than family.

It should not be this difficult to understand.

I have seen bad bosses, but this is another level.

It is incredibly difficult to find a job where the bosses treat you like a human being.

They just wanted to have the last laugh.

That is a good response, and one I need to remember for next time.

This is how you deal with bad bosses.
