There are over a hundred species of dogs that are domesticated and kept as pets. Every species has its own qualities and there’s always something special about how they look. It might be a double or even a triple coat fur dog which almost appears to be a bear, a dog with unique coat color, or a small corgi that is too cute for its size. If you’re a dog person, the first thing you’d want to do when you see a dog would be to pet it. It’s hard to resist since these fuzzies are so precious and wholesome that they automatically attract you to them. Who wouldn’t like petting a playful dog? Well, it’s always important to first take the owner’s consent because it’s the owner who is well aware of the dog’s personality.
Today’s storytime includes a Twitter thread started by a dog owner, who thinks it’s essential to first ask for the owner’s permission before petting their dog and if the owner doesn’t agree, people shouldn’t think of them being rude. The author has a point there, like humans, animals should also be given space. The animal might not always like a stranger approaching them, hereby it’s important to ask the owner first. Let’s look into the thread to see what more the OP has to say about the owner’s rights towards its pet. Scroll down and check it out;
If an owner doesn’t allow you to touch his pet, you shouldn’t keep it against them since they have all the right to do that. Just as people are vigilant about their children, by all means, pet parents can be extra vigilant about their pet babies. There might be certain circumstances under which the owner might refuse to let you pet their dog. Even if there’s no specific reason and the owner isn’t comfortable letting you do that, people should understand and respect the decision rather than being furious about it. If you have children around, then you need to be extra careful before letting a child pet a dog because you never know how the animal would react. Children often do not know how to treat a dog.
Animals should be treated humanely, an animal might show an adverse reaction if somebody tries to touch it against its will or pets it in a rough manner. Hereby, if somebody has limited exposure to dogs or any other pet animal, it’s better to ask for the owner’s permission before stroking or patting. The owner might caution you or explain how to approach their pet specifically. It’s better to take everything positively and a learning perspective out of everything!
