Son Custody

Several people are jailed for crimes they did not commit.

Injustice is a pervasive issue in the criminal justice system, with numerous examples of people being wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit. These miscarriages of justice can have devastating consequences for those involved, exposing the legal system’s flaws and limitations. You may believe that everyone is fine after being released and having all false charges dismissed, but this is not usually the case.

Many people end up losing their jobs or even custody of their children. Furthermore, the justice system makes no apologies or remunerations. They simply file it as a ‘mistake’ and move on with their lives, paying no attention to what that person will do in the future. However, the Internet has provided many people with a platform to express their dissatisfaction with the injustices they have experienced. This is also what the original narrator of this story did. As you might expect, the police didn’t like it.

Going to jail for a crime you didn’t commit is more common than you may think.

The OP has clearly been through a lot and isn’t sure whether this is a fight he should continue to fight.

OP was arrested right in his workplace a few years ago for a crime he didn’t commit, and he was humiliated.

OP immediately hired a lawyer, which meant all of his savings were used up and he couldn’t pay for the bail.

Thankfully, he was acquitted of all of his charges, but when he came out, he had lost custody of his son and also lost his job.

OP wanted to sue the police or make this known publicly, but even the local newspaper told him that this happens more than he thinks.

So OP decided to put up a website for everyone to see where he added all the information related to his case, which he was legally allowed to do.

OP’s website gained more attention than he expected and is apparently listed quite high in the search engine, which got some higher-up attention in the town.

OP was visited by a couple of police officers and a detective, who apologised and asked him to take down the website, which he wasn’t going to.

The OP’s condition is that the detective who made the mistake should be fired from the force, but that isn’t happening.

The OP is adamant that he isn’t going to take down the website, and all the support from Reddit users certainly surprised him.

There was a lot of helpful advice given by Reddit users, but if he were to sue the state, it would take many years, so it isn’t worth it.

While OP was going to post the aforementioned website, that would not be a good move legally speaking, so he hasn’t done it.

The reason there isn’t as much information about the whole case is because he wanted to keep himself anonymous.

However, what we do know is that OP is back with his son, which is certainly a good thing.

It is pretty clear that he got the help he needed from all of the Reddit users, and he was very thankful.

I don’t see anything wrong with what the OP did. Legally, he is also allowed to discuss his experience. Not only that, but the police only came to his house and apologised after their actions were made public. Before that, no one helped him and simply said it was an error. After all, OP lost custody of his son and had to spend significant time in jail. However, I’m glad his son is back with him.

To be fair, he deserves at least this much since he had to use the money to pay for a lawyer.

I wish nobody had to go through something similar, but this happens more than we think.

I am sure he could have a lawsuit, but it would require a lot of time and money.

That would be the epitome of villainy if they did something like that.

I am sure every state has its own laws about things like this.

What are your thoughts on the whole issue? Do you think the OP should have taken down the website instead of making such a big deal about it? Or do you believe he should be allowed to speak about the injustice done to him?
