Entitled Customer Berates Retail Employee In A Wrong Store And Throws A ‘Lobster’ At Her

There can be all kinds of customers but Karens are the worst ones, aren’t they?

OP worked at a small costume store where they handled returns and exchanges on a busy Saturday before Halloween. Despite the store’s policy of all sales being final, accommodations were made for defective items or size exchanges. About 30 minutes into their shift, a woman arrived wanting to return a dog’s lobster costume, disregarding OP helping another customer. She lacked a receipt and claimed it was too small. OP explained the policy and offered assistance if she could provide proof of purchase. The woman became agitated, insisting it was bought at their store, yelling and refusing cooperation. Despite thorough searches, there was no record of the sale. The woman continued to argue and demanded to speak to a manager. Fortunately, the store owner, who had been nearby, intervened. Despite her protests, he upheld the policy. In frustration, she threw the costume and stormed out. OP calmly continued their work, later joking with coworkers about the incident and receiving an unusual souvenir. After Halloween, the costume remained in the lost and found. The owner, finding humor in the situation, suggested OP keep it as a memento of their eventful day.
