Today, the world has completely changed from what it used to be a decade or two ago. Great advancements have been made in all walks of life. Everything today has been digitalized and revolutionized. We don’t usually see a lot paper and manual work anywhere these days. Computers have taken over and made our work easy. However, some companies still follow the old methods. They haven’t digitalized anything. It’s not that they can’t, but the thing is that they don’t know how. A lot of companies today are run by baby boomers who don’t know anything about computers. It’s not their fault because back in the days computer studies weren’t common.

Today, everyone is moving towards computers and boomers are simply clueless. We came across an interesting and thought provoking story on reddit posted by a data analyst who worked in a company where they still use office 2007 running on a pentium 4. The young data analyst managed to digitalize the system, doing the job of almost 6 people all by himself. His crazy boss fired him at the beginning of the meeting, but ended up paying him x40 more. Scroll down to read the whole story.

So here’s a brief introduction to the OP’s work place and his job description.

Well, honestly this office needs an upgrade…

Pentium 4 is so damn old. To run something as powerful as a data analytics software and perfom data analysis tasks you need a machine that can process great deal of data in the least time possible. It’s very obvious that a company has tonnes of data in its database. It isn’t something you and I can fit inside our computer’s storage. In order to perfom data analysis tasks on a huge chunk of data, we need an extremely fast processor along with an efficient graphics card to conduct the deep learning and machine learning tasks.

So OP is the tech guru of the company.

Maybe the boss needs a young and educated advisor that can guide him about the jobs and the job descriptions.

Smells like nasty work place politics…

OP came prepared.

Plot twist.

OP is smart. He knows how to get back at a “Karen” who bluntly fired him.

During pandamic we all learned a lot.

OP is quite a negotiator.

OP get’s the deal sealed.

The company shouldn’t have fired the OP.

The company management is in desperate need.

“He’s been in the business longer than you’ve been alive.”

This story was very engaging. How the OP sealed the deal and got to complete his college during such trying times was pretty evil genious. He seems like a person no one can mess with. However, we do feel sorry for the bossman. It’s time he hires someone who can really help him with the technical matters of the company. We don’t live in the age of pentium 4 anymore.
