The concept of optical illusions can allow our brains to perceive the image in various ways which can become more like mind twisters, but at the same time, the creativity is very interesting to see. Such is the Chinese artist Gao Youjun, more popularly known as Shanghai Tango on social media who uses impeccable ways of various techniques to turn doodles into such beautiful illustrations which surely never fail to impress us.
His majority of the work is done expressing in forms of people, objects, animals, and others in such a sequential way that is minimal yet intriguing which one does not see coming. I’m sure it might be confusing for you to understand what I’m talking about. Wait until you see all these illustrations of pure art. The deformation of lines, shades, and shapes creates a completely different story in a split second. It includes the current trends of the world, cultural criticism, and sometimes politics with metaphorical illustrations to present his take on the issue. Running his own advertising agency currently, his passion for this has been in the making since 2010, a friend challenged him to draw quirky cartoons and asked him to post them on Weibo, a popular social media site in China. The challenge was to create and post one illustration every day that specifically pokes fun at the oddities of modern life.
Was I the only one amused by such incredible work? My head surely took a good spin after trying to perceive the picture from his point of view. Did you think it the way I perceived or I’m sure you might have different takes on all of these illustrations? let us know what you think of this and share it with us in the comments.
