Many of us spent our formative years watching movies and television episodes with endearing and relatable animal protagonists who spoke our languages, drove vehicles, held jobs similar to those of our parents, and had the same kinds of discussions with our friends and family that we did. And even while we secretly understood that our pets and the squirrels roaming through our backyards were definitely not attending primary school and talking about current events, there may have been a small part of us that secretly wanted that animals could behave like people.
