Thanksgiving Host Wants Everyone To Pay $500 To Be A Part Of The Thanksgiving Dinner, Uninvites Sister For Refusing To Pay

Family gatherings are fun but some relatives like to ruin the fun.

The best part about having a big family is that you can have big family gatherings and have a lot of fun. You can talk about anything without being judged but some relatives do not respect others’ opinions and they want everyone to agree with them.  But that’s not how it works. You cannot turn everything into a heated debate every time. A Reddit user shared with the Reddit community that they have a big family and they decided to invite everyone for the Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone in the family works in different political spectrums. Every person respects the other person’s views except OP’s sister and her husband.

They would always want everyone to agree with them and they would think that the person disagreeing with them is wrong. They would always turn everything into a heated debate and it gets awkward for everyone else. To avoid this situation, OP set up a boundary that everyone coming to the Thanksgiving dinner would deposit $500 and the ones who would not talk about politics would get their money back but the ones talking about politics would not get their money back. OP’s sister didn’t like the idea and didn’t deposit the money. OP uninvited them. Scroll down for the complete story.

1. OP is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at her place and her family was excited about it. OP has a big family and all of them fall under different political spectrums.

2. Everyone in the family respects others’ opinions except OP’s sister and her husband. They think whoever disagrees with them is wrong. It’s exhausting to be in the same room with them because they turn everything into a heated debate.

3. To avoid the political debate, OP included a ban on political discussion and deposit of $500. Whoever will discuss politics will lose their money and everyone else will get their money back but OP’s sister and her husband didn’t deposit the money so she had to uninvite them.

4. OP’s parents want to see their grandchildren and they have offered to cover Kari’s deposit but OP told them “no”.
