Sister Left Brother’s Engagement Party Because He Told Her She Came Only To Steal His Show

When a relative living far away comes after a very long time and makes visits very rarely, they sort of become the star of every day and night till they are there. It happens. Everyone enjoys interacting with them, the catching up part especially is what everyone is mostly into. It is a fun scenario and a really joyous one when it happens in my family. My father comes home every 5 to 6 years and for their entire stay, we try to keep the spotlight on them as much as possible.

In today’s story, we see something like this happen but the outcome wasn’t liked by the star himself as he felt his spotlight got stolen by his own sister. Reddit user u/MinuteDescription525 shared that after moving to college she paid very few visits home. When she got to know that her brother got engaged and the family was throwing an engagement party, OP got extremely excited and decided to fly home. As she arrived, she congratulated her brother. OP also enjoyed meeting all her relatives who liked interacting with her as well. This arrival of his sister however was not liked by the brother as he brought OP aside and accused her that the only reason she showed up at the engagement party was to steal his spotlight.

This jealousy that we just say in OP’s brother is something very common. When someone comes from far away after a very long time, everyone likes engaging with them because they are going to be there for a very short time. The other sibling may feel they are being ignored but that is so not the case. It is just that the person who rarely shows up is being treated with utmost respect.

So far from what I read, I don’t think OP had any intention to steal her brother’s show. She sounded so excited from her words. His accusation was false and could hurt OP a lot as she came to become a part of his happiness but he sort of told her to leave.

8. OP got concerned about making her brother feel bad on his big day so she asked him to suggest what she should do that would make him feel better.

9. His response clearly meant he didn’t want OP to stay at the party anymore and she complied by leaving.
