Adopting a new pet is always considered a good idea but not everyone would appreciate it.
Getting a new pet makes you excited because your old pet would get a new friend but it does not happen in every case. Not everyone would be happy to get a new pet when they already have a pet in their house. A cat owner shared on Reddit that he lives with his girlfriend. He owns a senior cat who is 14 years old and blind in one eye. OP’s girlfriend always wanted to have a dog. She told OP that she wants to adopt a dog but OP made it clear that they will have a dog after his cat would pass away because OP’s cat would not get along with dogs. Senior cats do not get along with other animals that easily. A pet parent knows the best about their pet. They know what would be good for their health. The original poster does not need to put his cat through the stress and discomfort of a new puppy. It is best for both the cat and the dog that the couple waits until the cat passes away.
